Cyljet

A patented method for optimising your Jet-Grouting operations

Cyljet high-precision real-time geophysical surveys for jet grouting

Sixense’ Cyljet method is a patented, high-precision geophysical survey solution developed to optimise jet-grouting operations by providing real-time, in-situ quality control of soil-cement columns.

Rather than relying solely on traditional coring or destructive testing after installation, Cyljet enables on-site measurement of column geometry and integrity, enabling improved assurance of the work-quality and faster decision-making through a non-destructive process.

The Cyljet technique utilises the Electric Cylinder® method – a multi-core cable with evenly spaced electrodes is installed down the central tube of a jet-grouted column. An induced electrical current is applied and the potential differences around the column are recorded and processed. Because the resistivity contrast between the injected cementitious material and the surrounding ground is significant, the measured data can be modelled to reveal the true three-dimensional shape and diameter of the column.

The advantages of adopting Cyljet for your ground-improvement or curtain-wall works are clear. First, Cyljet allows the verification of whether the planned diameter and overlap of jet-grouted elements have been achieved, without resorting to excavation or extensive coring. Second, Cyljet helps calibrate jetting parameters (such as pressure, volume and penetration speed) early in the execution phase — meaning potential under-treatment or material over-consumption can be identified and corrected swiftly, reducing wasted time and cost.

From a project-delivery perspective, Cyljet supports faster turnaround of verification data — in many cases results can be available within 24 – 48 hours of measurement completion, enabling corrective actions to be factored into the schedule, rather than discovered much later. Moreover, the solution has been proven on international infrastructure projects, reinforcing confidence in its reliability and repeatability in different ground conditions and environments.

Sixense’s Cyljet service comprises a robust quality-control tool that can be embedded into your ground-improvement workflow — one that helps contractors verify the actual geometry and effectiveness of jet-grouted columns, optimise material usage, control schedule risk, and deliver greater transparency to your client or asset owner. As ground-engineering challenges grow increasingly complex, having a non-destructive, data-driven method like Cyljet provides a proactive edge in execution and assurance.

How Cyljet operates

Cyljet enables in-situ dimensional checking of injection columns during construction.

The solution is based on the Electric Cylinder method, and provides 3D investigation around the full circumference of the column.

A multicore cable with evenly spaced electrodes is installed at the centre of the column to record and process the potential differences generated by the induced electric current to produce a 3D image of the injected column.

Cyljet can equally be used to validate a test plot, as well as provide continual checking of injection quality as work progresses.
