Martin Dunn

Martin is Technical Manager at Sixense, bringing extensive expertise in surveying, automated monitoring, data engineering and infrastructure technology.

He began his career in land surveying before being introduced to automated monitoring during the construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link with Rail Link Engineering. The project was among the first in the UK to routinely collect, store and analyse monitoring data at large scale across multiple contractors, with Sixense (previously Sol Data) acting as technical partner. As the engineer responsible for managing this system, Martin developed applications to analyse TBM performance using the project dataset and collaborated with the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction to develop and trial new monitoring methods.

Following the successful completion of CTRL, Martin joined Sol Data in 2006, initially working within the Data Engineering team. He supported a wide range of major UK infrastructure projects while becoming increasingly involved in the company’s international technical activities.

Martin has since developed bespoke hardware and software solutions for Sixense clients and led the implementation and management of Geoscope monitoring software as a cloud-hosted solution. In his current role, he provides technical oversight and development for Sixense’s UK activities, while also participating in and leading research opportunities across the wider Sixense Group.

Stuart Baker - Senior Estimator and Business Development Manager (UK)

Stuart started working with the group in 1994 as an Assistant Surveyor on the Jubilee Line Extension’s Southwark and Bermondsey Stations, undertaking simple Precise Level, Tape Extensometers and Demec Gauge Monitoring. At the time, automated monitoring was in its infancy, and the humble electrolevel beam had only just started to be deployed on construction sites as a monitoring tool.

Following completion of the Jubilee Line, Stuart helped launch Sol Data in the UK and undertook the first ever installation of a CYCLOPS ATS Monitoring system in Blackpool.  Other jobs followed and this helped Sol Data establish a presence in the UK providing predominantly automated monitoring solutions on projects up and down the country.

Stuart has also supported other Sixense Business units globally, including our operations in Abu Dhabi, France, Amsterdam, Bucharest, Doha, Dubai, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Melbourne and Seattle, to name a few.

Stuart is now responsible for Business Development and Estimating covering potential opportunities in the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe.
