An innovative 3D continuous linear inclinometer system
The 4DShape solution from Sixense is an innovative 3D continuous linear inclinometer system engineered to provide accurate, real-time monitoring of soil and structural movement. 4DShape uses a flexible chain of high-precision inclinometers based on advanced MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Sensors) technology, enabling measurement of relative displacement along vertical, horizontal or converging profiles with high resolution and reliability. Its modular design permits bespoke configurations tailored to project needs, and components can extend from a few metres up to 150 metres, making it suitable for a wide range of geotechnical and structural applications.

Each segment in the 4DShape chain incorporates three inclination sensors, a microprocessor, and a digital temperature sensor, providing accurate measurement data while compensating for environmental influences. Installed within boreholes, underneath embankments, on rail infrastructure, inside tunnels and on buildings and structures, 4DShape captures millimetric movement continuously, automatically logging data that can be streamed and visualised on Sixense’s Beyond Monitoring platform. With measurements available as frequently as every 10 minutes per chain, and a long-term, low-maintenance design, 4DShape offers robust performance across demanding environments.
